Policing

The Policing emphasis is designed for students preparing for careers in policing at the local, state or federal levels. Increasingly, professionals who enter law enforcement at the local level are required or encouraged to earn Bachelor's degrees. At the state level, students may prepare themselves for traditional patrol and investigative work in state police agencies, or for more specialized careers in research, data management or forensics. At the federal level, there are more than 30 different agencies that regularly employ students who have majored in criminal justice. These agencies include the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, the Internal Revenue Service, the Secret Service, the Department of Homeland Security, the Drug Enforcement Agency and many others.
