Legal Studies

This emphasis is designed to provide students with a basic understanding of the American legal system, its philosophy, its functions and its role in society. It is recommended for students who have ambitions of attending law school. The purpose of this emphasis is to maximally develop knowledge, skills and experiences which should form a solid foundation for pursuing a legal education.

Students interested in pursuing a career in law should understand that there is no standard undergraduate pre-law curriculum. Law schools are looking for students who have displayed substantial ability in all areas of undergraduate study and have exhibited an aptitude for the law by scoring well on the LSAT. When considering your law school preparation, special emphasis should be placed on the development of critical thinking skills, analytical skills and writing skills.
