Background:
Professor Phil He has served as a law faculty at National Huaqiao University (P.R. China) from 1988 to 1989. Prior to coming to Northeastern University, he was an assistant professor of criminal justice at the University of Texas at San Antonio (1998-2003).

Professor He's primary teaching and research interests include comparative criminology and criminal justice, quantitative methodology and policing. He has had significant experience working on several large-scale international and national research projects as a research analyst. His scholarship can be found in variety of refereed professional journals.

Professor He was a recipient of several competitive awards including a Presidential Fellowship (from the University of Nebraska) and a research fellowship from the Bureau of Justice Statistics, U.S. Department of Justice. Most recently, one of his articles received the "Highly Commend Award" (Volume 25, 2002) from the publisher of Policing: An International Journal of Police Strategies and Management.
